Chris Bosh – Gone and Forgotten
July 14, 2010

It was March of 2005.  Vince Carter had recently been traded to the Nets and Chris Bosh was the Raptors new superstar in waiting.  More playing time resulted in a huge surge in his points-per-game average and the youngster was now being viewed as the face of the franchise.  Bosh had been anointed   more...

I am extremely saddened by the death of Bob Probert.

Here it is a few hours after the announcement of his passing, and I find myself reminiscing about past experiences.

He was a friend.  Well – as good a friend as you can be with a guy who lives 3 ½ hours away and who I would see 2-3 times a year.

We met   more...

Some Olympic stories from our recent autograph signing with Bruins star Patrice Bergeron.

Bergie’s roommates in Vancouver were Sidney Crosby and Shea Weber, his 2005 World Junior teammates.  Each Canadian player was given up to 6 tickets per game, but requests had to be   more...

I’m not trying to open a can of worms or anything, but did anyone else notice Canada had an unfair advantage at the Vancouver Olympics? It seems that Scott Niedermayer was playing with a tree…

Here is another photo that I’ll bet you haven’t seen. Do you think that the Prime Minister’s office will   more...

Some random observations that have been taking up space in my mind.

NHL hockey pucks from Sher-Wood (formerly InGlas Co) are made in Slovakia. This would just be the rubber puck itself, as they are printed and designed in Quebec.

We recently actually had someone return a signed puck they had ordered because “I wanted   more...

I have explained this philosophy to people on so many occasions that I figured it was about time I put it in writing. While the readers of this blog are by no means my target audience for this rant, I figure they can relate to the questions being asked and the rationale behind my   more...

Back2Back
August 18, 2009

The weekend of August 7-9 was very special to baseball fans in Toronto, as members of the 1992 and 1993 World Series Champion Toronto Blue Jays reunited for a number of events to raise money for the Children’s Aid and Jays Care Foundations. I was thrilled and honored to be a part of it, as these may be the only Toronto sports teams to win   more...

We arrived at the 20th Century Fox Studio lot shortly before 9:30 a.m. Myself, my friend Jack, and my nephews Max and Eric. Thursday, July 16th was a day we had been waiting for. We were going to meet The Simpsons.

I had won a charity auction in May. The philanthropic Hank Azaria had donated the opportunity to sit in on a   more...

I apologize, but my post-playoff celebrations have caused me to fall way behind on my blog. In order to speed things up again, I will provide brief summaries from a number of recent events.

Facts and observations you won’t find anywhere else.

Prior to Game 1 in Detroit I learned I had super powers. A group of five of us, including Gordie and Mark Howe, were standing at ice level having a discussion when NHL commissioner Gary Bettman happened by. Bettman stopped to shake the hands   more...

Stanley Cup – Game 7
June 10, 2009

Being in this business, I have to remain impartial. Therefore, I don’t care who wins the Stanley Cup, as long as it is Marc-Andre Fleury.

Go Pens!!!

All I have to say is that the Wings seem only able to win on weekends, which should make Friday’s game a lock.

What I Collect and Why?
May 27, 2009

Through my twenties and into my early-thirties, I would spend Sunday nights at my sister’s house watching “The Simpsons” with my two nephews. This became a ritual I truly enjoyed and rarely missed. As a result, I have always maintained a close bond and special relationship with Max and Eric and we have Homer, Bart, et al,   more...

The "Other" Coach’s Corner
May 11, 2009

One company that I have yet to touch upon in any of my rantings is Coach’s Corner Sports Auctions out of Souderton, PA. This may be the most controversial company in the hobby right now, and not in a positive way.

I had one dealing with the company in the mid-1990’s. At the time they were known only as Coach’s Corner   more...

Caveat Emptor

Check out this ebay item.

The seller is offering a Babe Ruth “game” bat, claiming it was from the last bat shipment Ruth received before he retired. He then states in the description that the bat was from 1985.

The Babe, or course, retired as a player in 1935 and passed away in 1948.

Behind the Scenes at the ’67 Leafs Reunion Dinner
March 23, 2009

In the Fall of 2005, I happened to ask Eddie Shack if anything was being planned to honor the 40th Anniversary of the Maple Leafs last Cup win. When he responded in the negative, I made similar calls to Johnny Bower and Bobby Baun, and eventually sat down for a meeting with Ron Ellis. Soon after,   more...
